Barndarrig - Complete Home Redecoration & Renovation

This Master Bedroom, En-Suite & Walk in Wardrobe got a complete makeover.  First of all we removed the wall in the bedroom to increase the size of the Ensuite & Walk in Wardrobe by approx 1M.  The difference it has made is significant.  We then proceeded to strip out the En-Suite and instead of the old enclosed shower, we put in a Wet room, with Multi toned Green Herringbone tiles chosen for the feature wall.  A new Rain Shower with additional jets was installed.   
We moved the Toilet seat over to accommodate a Bidet, while the existing vanity unit was kept.  We added a touch control Mirror that gives a soft glow, or a bright light, whichever is preferred.  The Dome Bone Floor and Wall tiles are the same throughout and are a lovely contrast to the Green Herringbone tiled feature wall in this En suite. This is truly a luxurious Master En-Suite.

Main Bathroom Stepaside

Creating a complete new look for this bathroom was key to making this space into a more functional Bathroom.  I reconfigured and redecorated this Bathroom to maximize the space  for everyday use in a busy household. By removing the Bath and replacing it with a double shower enclosure  with a  non-slip slate white shower tray instantly created more space.   The toilet is a new comfort height model.  The new  Navy Wall Hung Vanity Unit adds functionality and storage space.   with a contrasting panel of Blue & Navy tiles. The LED touch control dimmer mirror ensures there is lighting for every requirements, putting on makeup, shaving or have it on dim for a more ambient glow.  Aesthetically it is a lovely contrast to the Grey and White and gives a whole new crisp and clean look to this Bathroom.

This home was given a new lease of life with each room being redecorated.  In keeping with the clients existing cabinetry, we were able to come up with a new colour scheme throughout to compliment the homes design.

Victorian Home Office

This home office needed to get a more modern makeover, keeping the Victorian theme.  We added Decorative Dado panelling throughout the room and then applied Primer instead of rather than stripping the wallpaper.  We chose to paint all the walls in Pistachio - a lovely pastel Green shade.  The Ceilings & Doors were painted in Pointing to compliment the Green colour scheme.  We added Bespoke Built In Cabinetry at both sides of the Fireplace, creating a small Library effect. The overall effect is a very calming space to work in. 

Barndarrig Nursery

This Nursery was stripped of wallpaper and all accessories.  Newly painted in two toned shades of Yellow accent with white walls and ceiling is a lovely neutral combination.  Adding the new Furniture and accessories has transformed this space. 

En-Suite Remodel

Completely stripping out this Ensuite to modernise it.  We retiling the entire walls and floor in matching tiles for this Ensuite. Introducing a new Quadrant Shower Enclosure, Vanity Unit with overhead Mirrored Storage Unit and Toilet completed the look for this Ensuite.

Kitchen  Greystones

Regardless of the size of a Kitchen, the main thing to get right is the design of a space. It takes time and effort to ensure you have what you want regarding the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space you are working on.  From choosing the overall design, colour of cabinetry, worktop finish, handles, lighting, flooring and appliances must all compliment each other.  
This kitchen space needed modernising and a more functional layout.  There was very little worktop space to work from, and very little storage presses, so these issues had to be addressed. It is much more functional than the previous kitchen. The sink  was moved to the window area  and a breakfast bar was introduced. Instead of a Galley Kitchen, it was changed to a Peninsula style,  The kitchen cabinetry is Alderley Blue, while the Bar Counter is Cashmere creating  a lovely contrast. The Starry Night white quartz worktop finishes off this space. Antique Brass Handles & Knobs on the cabinetry are a perfect match for the large Light Pendant combining three Antique Brass circles with white glass bulbs over the Bar Counter creating task lighting for working in that area.  Overall it gives a lovely ambient glow to the room. 

Victorian Home Bathroom

This beautiful bathroom was transformed by introducing bold colours for the woodwork and high ceiling that houses a fabulous chandelier. The decorative Dado panelling on the bottom section of the walls with the multi coloured Jungle Themed wallpaper completed a total new look for this space. Introducing a couple of Orange accessories  added the final touch. 

Main Bathroom revamp

Working on this Main Bathroom was very enjoyable as it was a total upgrade. We stripped everything back to the bare walls..  Choosing a very simple colour pallet of Grey and White was my main objective as I wanted a nice bright space.  By creating a stark contrast for the furnishings, it is a very simple monochrome Bathroom.. 
Adding ample storage with a Graphite Gloss Wall Hung Tallboy and a  two drawer matching Vanity Unit ensured there is plenty of space for the owners while adding a touch of glamour.  The overhead LED  Touch Control  Dimmer Mirror ensures the perfect amount of lighting by the  touch of a button. 
The Off Quadrant Shower enclosure with a non-slip Grey Slate tray along with Chrome rain shower head ensures maximum efficiency.  The new bath with chrome fittings and tiled side panel completed the look I wanted to achieve. The Marble effect Grey veined tiles are easy to clean, create a beautiful aesthetic overall for this large Bathroom, bringing it into modern day living.

Victorian Home Dining Room (Conservatory)

This stunning Conservatory/Dining Room would probably be the envy of most.  Surrounded by the most beautifully manicured gardens, it begged to bring the outside in.  Simply put, add earthy colours to the interior of this spectacular space to allow it to become part of the gardens.  
This space appeared to be very long and narrow, so I opted for both the top and bottom walls to be painted in a deep dark green  and chose to paint  the side walls in Taupe to make this space appear shorter and wider.  The spectacular vaulted glass ceiling  ensures an added bonus of the natural daylight flowing through.   
This room can be used to relax in the peaceful surroundings of the beautifully manicured gardens while on the opposite end of the scale, it would be a fantastic space for entertaining with family and friends. 

Entrance Hallway

What a better place to start a  project than the entrance Hallway? It was aesthetically very unwelcoming and drab. Although it is a small space, you can still do a lot to enhance the space. Above all it needed to be brightened up.  Choosing a mixture of  striking  Hummingbird Wallpaper, with T&G wall panelling, (painted in Fleetwood Ripples Folly), as a feature wall, carrying on the T&G to the remaining walls.  Painting both doors white instantly made the space appear larger. To finish it off.  I used Globe Lighting and a large Bronze ceiling pendant along with other accessories to make a welcoming Entrance Hall.

Greystones Boys Bedroom

This girls bedroom needed to be revamped to suit her growing needs.  The most important thing was to create storage and use vertical space. Removing all the small furniture in this bedroom was a must.  Keeping in mind her needs will change, a vanity unit, shelving, & larger wardrobe to facilitate extra storage including drawers were all in my plan to make this small space much more functional, while making it aesthetically pleasing.  A built in bed was part of the request, with more storage underneath. We chose Green and Purple for this bedroom with Ivory Cabinetry.  See the  'AFTER' results for yourself.  

The teenage boys bedroom also needed a whole new look with additional storage to cater for his needs. Between, wardrobe space, additional shelving incorporated in the wardrobes along with additional wall shelving, this will certainly suffice in creating what was required and again giving more floor space. We chose Grey for this room with accessories in Teal with the cabinetry also in Grey. Adding Smart LED Striplights with a  remote control that changes to 5 colours on the ceiling and partial walls gave the final result a lovely warm feel. Stepaside, Co Dublin. - Remodel Kitchen Diner/Living Room

Redesign of Kitchen/Dining/Living area. This space is a large Kitchen/Living/Dining room and my first impression was that the Kitchen completely took over from the Dining/Living space and it was very dark with all the wood and black counter top.   Making it more functional for a family of 5 adults was my priority. I completely redesigned this space, ensuring that the functionality was better for everyday living, while ensuring the Living/Dining space was a larger than it was previously. I also needed to leave room for an Office Desk.
The 'Must Have' list was for an American Fridge Freezer, a broom press & a wine rack.  Green & Cream tones were decided upon.  I thought the dining area was very limited, so a Peninsula Kitchen with a good Bar Counter were key for my design.  The cabinetry is Farrow & Ball Cashmere and the Bar Counter is Willow & the walls are Fleetwood Parisian Taupe. The emphasis is spread now to the much more spacious Living/ Dining area, while the kitchen is small, it is still more functional.  Painting all the woodwork from Brown to White makes this space much brighter, along with the light toned Karndean flooring throughout.  Happy to say my clients were delighted with the finish.

Barndarrig Guest Bedroom & Ensuite

This Guest Bedroom & Ensuite before and after redecoration and modernisation.
The Bedroom was completely stripped of the old floral wallpaper and the windows were replaced. We painted the Bedroom white with the exception of the wall directly behind the bed in a rich Navy to match the new look En-Suite. New King Size Ottoman bed, Curtains, Light Pendant and all accessories were introduced to make this a lovely bright modern space. 
The En-suite was partially renovated.   We removed the old Shower Cubicle & Tray and Toilet. We replaced the shower with a Quadrant shower and slate tray and moved the toilet to allow for a Bidet side by side. A  lick of Navy and Taupe paint finished off this spacious Guest En-Suite. 
Huge compliments to our wonderful Tiler who skilfully added the same tiles to match what was already there.

Apartment in Greystones

This space was very dark and dreary and needed to be brightened up. By painting the doors and woodwork white it brightened up this hallway made it feel much more spacious.  Adding the Wainscoting and painting it in contrasting Denim Blue brings this space alive and brings warmth to the space.

Mercer Vale, Dublin 18

This beautiful new home was purchased by a young couple who did not live in the area at the time of purchase. Starting on a blank canvass, my brief was to get the Flooring, Window Dressings, Kitchen Island and Built-in Bespoke wardrobes prior to them moving in. 
It was a lovely project to work on and keeping the owners informed of all works as it progressed by videos and photography was great fun with lots of surprises for them in the items that I chose.
I was every bit as excited as they were by their continued involvement and progress of the job. It was a really rewarding job to work on and I am happy to say that It finished under budget.

Seabourne View, Greystones

This fabulous 2-Bed Apartment is in the most beautiful location, with stunning views of the countryside.  We used a bright neutral palette throughout  for painting as  it is an East Facing apartment.  Previously, there was a lot of dark shades used throughout. 
The woodwork in the kitchen was given a complete overhaul, removing the glass storage unit and replacing it with a double cabinet.  The whole kitchen was then Hand Painted in white and it completely transformed the old dark Kitchen. New lighting, Flooring and appliances and Furniture were purchased. Throughout the rest of the apartment we built in bespoke TV & Storage Units in the Living room. New Hand Made Curtains and Blinds were introduced and it is now a lovely bright, comfortable and airy apartment. 
This is a really good example of the 'Before & After'!. 

Girls Bedroom

This girls bedroom required a more functional storage space and desk area for all their belongings. Thinking Vertical was my main goal for this room to give them as much space, while keeping it simple and functional for easy access, while addressing their needs.

Delgany Living Room

Contemporary, cosy living room was the brief for this project for my clients to relax in, but to ensure it was functional for a young family.. 
I kept the colour scheme bright and airy (Greens & Cream) to ensure the overall aesthetic met my clients needs.  The large bay window adds a great deal of light to this West facing living room. 
Bespoke cabinetry provides ample storage space. The wall mounted TV & Dimplex Wall mounted Fire ensure this Living room has no waste space and provides neat storage space as well as giving a lovely cosy feel to this room.  The lighting in the wall cabinetry creates a lovely ambient glow. 

Delgany, Co Wicklow. Hall stairs & Landing

A quick and cost effective way to brighten up a Hall/Stairs/Landing space is to add Wainscoting.  Paint it whatever the colour of your choice, but in this space, the White paint has really opened up the hallway and really demonstrates the beautiful stair runner with the Navy border.  It also shows the solid Herringbone flooring off to its best. This is a very effective transformation at a reasonable cost.

Teenagers can never have enough space for all their gadgets. Why not keep everything in one place by installing Bespoke built-in Wardrobes?  
With hanging space, drawers, ample shelving, incorporated study desk, and a mirror, its a clever way to declutter a room and keep it tidy. Say goodbye to separate chest of drawers, study desk that clutter up a bedroom.

New Home - Tandy's Gate, Lucan

This new home was a pleasure to work in.  It is built over three floors and is a wonderful spacious home.  My clients kept to a very simple, modern look in decorating and furnishing their home. 
Storage was a main priority for them in their Living Room & Kitchen. Their chosen colours were Blues, Grey and Cream.   We started on all the flooring and from then, all Window Dressings.  
Beautiful hand made Curtains in the Living rooms, and Screen Blinds throughout the whole house were chosen.  Screen blinds have the advantage, that you can see out clearly, but passers by, can't see in..
We then moved onto the Bespoke Cabinetry in the Living Room & Kitchen, making for clutter free spaces. 
Furnishing this house was a lovely job to take on as we were starting from scratch. The end result is a functional, modern home. 
A huge thank you to all the workmen involved in making this the home of their dreams and I hope they will be very happy living there. 

Kitchen Diner - Bespoke Oak Parquet Herringbone flooring

This beautiful Bespoke Oak Herringbone style of floor covering has been growing in popularly over the past few years, and it is not difficult to see why my clients chose it.
 
This interesting flooring grants a space with a contemporary element, whilst remaining highly natural and organic.

Perfect in any room of the house, you can let this flooring speak for itself and use minimalistic furnishings. 

It is as practical as it is stylish. This flooring is exceptionally functional and is suitable for all round domestic use as it is built to last.


Living Room Dublin 16

This Living room was the last room to be done in this household.  The colour palette of Navy and Greys work very well together.  
Simple, yet functional, this space works very well for family and friends to relax in  luxurious and comfortable surroundings at an affordable price. 
The built in cabinetry for the TV, Books etc along with the Electric Wall fire insert has made this a very cosy room.  It also means you have the choice of using less furniture, by being very functional for all the family. 

Living Room makeover-Palmerstown D 20

Do you often wish you had enough storage space in your home for all your gadgets/ books/ ornaments etc etc?  This young family wanted a  complete new look for their living room that would incorporate storage space.  
Making this space functional for my clients, while being aesthetically pleasing was key to this home design. This young family's wish was to have a comfortable  to space to relax and enjoy leisure time with family and friends and also use a space as a work area.  We built in a bespoke work station under the stairs to allow for this while taking up the least amount of space.  Although it is a small space, it is very functional and does not disrupt the rest of the Living room, keeping everyone happy.   

Understairs Conversion and Redesign

Removal of a small under stairs storage area, that would surely become a dumping ground was a very obvious choice for me   This is now a cozy snug for reading or relaxing while creating a 'room within a room'.
While utilising the entire floorspace it adds an interesting focal point to this space. Again it is a cost effective way of giving a room a whole new lease of life as well as the extra space.

Kitchen & Ground Floor Remodel and Redesign

This kitchen needed modernising for my client. We installed a complete new fitted kitchen while incorporating a Utility Room and Guest Bathroom, by breaking into the wall dividing the Kitchen & Living area.  We took approximately 1.5mtr of space from the Living room to facilitate this. 
All kitchen units and accessories were replaced and the kitchen was redesigned for ergonomic and aesthetic purposes. Granite worktops, backsplash and upstands have been installed that are a wonderful contrast to the rich navy kitchen cabinetry. 
It was imperative to capture the natural daylight while utilising the natural flow of this space.   We Installed two Velux windows to give additional light as this Kitchen is North facing.  The old flooring was replaced with ceramic grey & white tiles brightening up this area.
The Island /Breakfast bar is the focal point of this kitchen and is fitted with additional storage space. 
We replaced all the original plumbing and electrics as part of this project. 
New double metal doors divide the Kitchen and  Living room areas.

Why not make a dysfunctional cubby hole into useful storage space in a Baby's Nursery?  Have everything in one place for easy access. This was designed to do just that at a very affordable cost. What was an underused space is now the perfect storage space for Baby items.

To keep everything in one place, and behind closed doors, this bespoke office cabinetry was built for multi-purpose storage. The colour is Farrow and Ball Stiffkey Blue and fitted with Brushed Brass effect handles. So whether you want to hide away your golf gear in one compartment along with your office files and folders in other compartments, it is the perfect solution. To the left is storage for coats or taller objects.

Garden Shed Conversion

A garden shed can have many uses, some may not consider renovating one to a modern, elegant 1-Bed apartment, but it is something worth considering. 
The whole space was completely renovated, All new Electrics/Plumbing/Heating and insulation have been installed in the renovation.   We installed a new Kitchen,  new  flooring, furniture, window dressings throughout.  
It was a lovely job to work on as the Owner could not envisage the outcome at all. 
This cosy apartment boasts an elegant Kitchen/Living room that is East facing. The Bedroom /En-Suite is West facing  with double patio doors installed to capture the stunning vista in the afternoon/evening sun from the large garden and patio area. The end result is a lovely compact 1-Bed Apartment.

Converted upstairs space over a commercial space.  Dividing this space into two self contained apartments for the holiday season was the clients requirements.

School Playground - Groundsworks

Its not every day that an Interior Designer would take on a project to install drainage, and level off a 500sqm area to make it suitable for children to use as a playground.  I welcomed the challenge and with the expert of Michael & his team from Dalkey Landscapes, we got the task underway.
This area was unusable a lot of the year for the school children as it was prone to getting water logged as soon as there was rain. It was a muck patch for days and even weeks on end, so this had to be rectified before any play equipment could be purchased.  From beginning to end it took a little under 
three weeks to complete.  It is great that the children now have a lovely safe area finished with Astro Turf to play on.
